Young Adult Advisory Board
The Young Adult Advisory Board (YAAB) is a group of volunteers, ages 13-24, who are dedicated to raising awareness of and putting an end to dating and domestic violence here in Bucks County. Throughout the year, YAAB plans various awareness campaigns and fundraising events, including AWP's annual Dance Marathon in February in honor of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and our annual Walk to Empower 5K Run and 1-mile Fun Walk in October to commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
4th annual Walk to Empower 5K & 1 Mile Fun Walk
Last Saturday, October 12, 2013, a group of 120 community members from all over the East Coast - PA, DE, NY, MA, NC, FL - gathered at Central Park in Doylestown. They walked. They ran. They made strides to help raise awareness about dating and domestic violence in Bucks County. Together, the participants in the 4th annual Walk to Empower 5K & 1 Mile Fun Walk raised nearly $4,000.
With the help of our runners and walkers, almost 50 event volunteers, our generous sponsors and food/beverage donors, contributors, Doylestown Township Parks & Recreation, Doylestown Township Police, and our other community partners who made this year's walk possible, we can continue making a difference to families right here in Bucks County.
THANK YOU to all who help contribute to a safer Bucks County.
Race results are available here. Stay tuned for information about next years event,
as we prepare to celebrate five years of walking to empower.
