Our story

Founded in 1976, A Woman's Place is a domestic violence shelter in Bucks County that serves as a temporary housing facility and provides numerous services and support to abused women and their children.

Since its founding, this non-profit agency has grown from a Sellersville storefront to an organization with five locations: the administrative office in Doylestown, an outreach office in Bristol, a joint project with Bucks County Legal Aid called Legal Aid Domestic Abuse in Doylestown, a shelter in Central Bucks, and the Full Circle Thrift Store in New Britain.

A Woman's Place services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, individual and group counseling for women and children, legal and medical advocacy, and court accompaniment.

The organization has established a First Response Team with Bensalem and Warminster police, arranging for advocates to be on call for incidents involving domestic violence.

In addition, Medical Advocates offer services at the 7 acute care hospitals in the county and at 9 healthcare clinic sites.
